If you don’t drive safely, your premium will increase but we’ll help you get better by sending you regular updates and feedback on your performance. You’ll have your own personalised dashboard to monitor your driving and as your driving behaviour improves you’ll be rewarded with more discounts.

We know that being a new or young driver can be an expensive business but we will reward you if you drive safely, it’s that simple!

About Wisedriving

What is black box insurance?

Black box or telematics insurance uses technology to monitor how you drive, in most cases a small black box device is fitted to the inside of your car; this shouldn’t be visible and won’t affect your car’s performance or warranty.

The black box collects information about how you accelerate and brake along with the speed and time of day that you drive. This information then creates a Driving Behaviour Score, the safer you drive the higher your Driving Behaviour Score. If you score well, you could reduce the premium you pay.

Our aim is to make you a safer driver, so we’ll help you with tips and ideas as well as a personal dashboard which will provide you with daily updates on how you’re doing and what improvements can be made to make you a safer driver.

1. We’ll phone you to arrange...

Once you’ve bought your policy, the WiseDriving installation team will call you to book a time and date to have the WiseDriving Black Box fitted. Your Black Box needs to be fitted within 14 days of your policy purchase or your insurance will be cancelled, so it's really important that we can get hold of you. We have a team of installation engineers fitting boxes up and down the country; they can come to you at home or an address you give us when you book the appointment. If you miss or do not give 24 hours notice to change your appointment, you will be charged a fee of £45.

2. We’ll visit you to install your Black Box

Our installation engineer will fit a WiseDriving Black Box into your car, you won’t be able to see it and it is about the same size as a smartphone. It won’t affect your car’s performance or impact your car’s warranty.

When we put a box in your car we need to check a few things. Please ensure you have the following documents ready when we come to visit you.

3. Check your score

Once your Black Box is fitted you can see your driving score at any time using your personalised WiseDriving dashboard. Your score will be updated on the dashboard every day so you can check your score as often as you like. Every month we’ll review your score and, if we need to, adjust your premium accordingly. We’ll give you regular feedback on how you’re doing, which will give you the opportunity to improve your score and receive discounts for driving safely.

WHAT IS MOBILE APP INSURANCE

Mobile app insurance uses telematics technology to monitor how you drive. Download our WiseDriving App and off you go.

The WiseDriving App collects information about how you accelerate and brake along with the speed and time of day that you drive. This information then creates a Driving Behaviour Score, the safer you drive the higher your Driving Behaviour Score. If you score well, you could reduce the premium you pay.

Our aim is to make you a safer driver, so we’ll help you with tips and ideas as well as a personal dashboard which will provide you with daily updates on how you’re doing and what improvements can be made to make you a safer driver.

1. Download app and send us your documents

Once you’ve bought your policy, we’ll ask you to download WiseDriving App and connect your WiseDriving device, which we will send to you in the post within a few days of the purchase of your policy. As this is the way we assess your driving you’ll need to this within 14 days, or your policy could be cancelled. You can download the WiseDriving App from either Google Play or the App Store – just search for WiseDriving or click on either of the links below. If you have any named drivers on your policy they will need to also download our WiseDriving App to their phone and connect to the WiseDriving device.



We’ll just need to see your No Claim Discount, if applicable, and your V5 Log Book.

2. Install your device

Once you’ve downloaded and registered the WiseDriving App. We will send you a WiseDriving device in the post within 4 to 6 days from the purchase date of your policy that you will need to plug into your vehicles 12v socket and connect this to our WiseDriving App. This doesn’t mean you cannot drive the vehicle without the WiseDriving device. All you need to do is take your mobile phone with our WiseDriving App downloaded and registered until the device is delivered.

3. Check your score

Once your WiseDriving device is connected and your WiseDriving App is up and running, you can see your driving score using your personalised WiseDriving dashboard. You can access your dashboard at any time either on our website or via your WiseDriving App. Your score will be updated on the dashboard every day so you can check your score as often as you like. Every month we’ll review your score and, if we need to, adjust your premium accordingly. We’ll give you regular feedback on how you’re doing, which will give you the opportunity to improve your score and receive discounts for driving safely.
